Meadows Place

Economic Development Corporation (EDC)

The Meadows Place Economic Development Corporation (EDC) was established to examine the various ways in which commercially zoned property within the City could be made more attractive for business development. The goal of the EDC is to attract financially secure businesses which could add to the City’s property tax base, generate sales tax revenue, and have a value-added benefit to the residents. In March 2010 Meadows Place voters overwhelmingly voted to convert from a Type A EDC to a Type B.   The EDC is funded by sales tax, is controlled by an independent board consisting of seven (7) members three of which hold official offices: President, Vice-President & Secretary.

4B Economic Development sales tax provides cities with a wide range of uses for the tax revenues because it is intended to give communities an opportunity to undertake projects for quality of life improvements. It is still intended to be used to promote economic development but some of its additional uses can be for:

  • Street, water, and sewer facilities
  • Public safety facilities
  • Drainage and related improvements
  • General municipally owned improvements
  • Maintenance and operating costs associated with projects
  • And any other project that the board determines will contribute to the promotion or development of new or expanded business enterprises that create or retain primary jobs

Meadows Place changing to a Type 4B Corporation opened up many more development opportunities for our City- and for you.

We now have more options in developing raw land as well as redevelopment of properties along US59 as you enter Fort Bend County.  With the undeveloped land of some 20 acres at West Airport and Kirkwood and the potential for redevelopment of some 60+ acres along US59 and the first exit off the Beltway,  Meadows Place has many options for investments in a location that is as good as it gets in Fort Bend County.

Cities all across the Texas have identified the benefits of pursuing the development of entertainment and multi-purpose districts to promote both quality of life and economic development issues within their community.  Meadows Place Economic Development Corporation is aggressively seeking brokers and developers who need a place like Meadows Place to make their dream come true.  Give us a call, and together, we will see what we Can Do.
